Welcome to my website and if you haven't guessed by now, I don't have broadband internet! I've lived in Wisconsin for over four months now, and I just can't seem to convince those pesky broadband companies to gimme. But you ask "Why not just get satellite?" Well my friend, I have, I have. The thing is, I'm a huge gamer and 900 pings and gaming don't mix well. Hence my predicament.

Why not satellite?

Well, there's several reasons, but the most fundamental one is this:

See, with satellite, you can do things like e-mail, IRC, and web browsing rather well, but there's some fundamental problems for gaming. LIKE THE FREAKING SECOND DELAY!

Also, it has presented serious problems in areas like patching (especially trying to play Half-life 2). Why? Because on satellite you're subject to the Fair-usage policy (FAP). They used to have a whole page dedicated to FAP, showing exactly what you can and can't do, but for an obvious reason (tip: they're sneaky) they reduced it to a paragraph. Basically, you cannot download more than 169MB total (including web pages, AIM, etc., not just FTP) in one 12 hour period. If you go over that, you get BOOTED OFFLINE for 6-24 hours. Definitely *NOT* cool.

Basically, the satellite company knows I have no alternative, and using their best capitalistic skills, take full advantage. Sigh.

You also get these nice, attractive pieces to add to your piece of real estate when you're a DirecWAY customer.

Along with this, you get a modem that's bigger than my monitor and get to restart roughly every 90 minutes because of "static in the coaxial cable."

Are you really a serious gamer? C'mon dude, xbox is where it's at!
